Performances

Living History Australia can provide performances and activity days tailored to the age and learning level of the audience.

Standard Performances usually have a 1½ - 2 hour duration (although this can be altered to suite your timetable) and can be tailored to suit indoor and outdoor venues (an indoor venue is strongly preferred).  Support material is provided for each performance.

Teachers can select one of our Standard Performances which cover a number of time periods.  These standard performances have been designed to give a well-rounded view of a particular period in history.  Alternatively you can choose your own combination of nine characters from our character menu.

We can also provide a full day of activities to accompany each of the performances.
This listing gives an overview of our standard performances. Please Click individual headings and images for more information on each performance.

Please note that the Modern Australia performance is not a standard performance and normally runs for 2-3 hours. The team will engage with the audience at the end of the performance to discuss and debate various aspects of the character portrayals as well as what the students have been covering in class.

Standard Performances

The Middle Ages

Focusing on the Middle Ages from the Crusades to the Renaissance, this performance focuses on the time that forms a bridge between the modern and ancient worlds.

The Middle Ages gave rise to the middle class, modern scientific thought, new models of government and impassioned explorers to seek new lands and new opportunities. Much of what was lost in the Dark Ages was preserved and then transferred back to the West from the lands of Islam at a time when enlightened thought and leadership were centred in the East.
