Participants
will engage in full-speed, full-contact team battles using
padded swords and protective equipment as well as experiencing
demonstrations of combat with real weapons and armour by Knight
School instructors.
There
will be many opportunities to handle and study the real implements
of medieval war as well. Courses include demonstrations of
real weapons in action, interactive displays that allow you
to dress in real armour, overview of the path of the squire
into knighthood, training in the Western martial art of sword
fighting and participation in a graduation knighting ceremony
that signaled the beginning of your career as a knight.
The
program is hosted by Living History Australia
(LHA), which operates in schools year round possessing Education
Queensland Accreditation for its school programs. LHA
has performed to over 100,000 students in the past ten years
of operation and comprises professional historians, re-enactors
and medieval martial artists dedicated to bringing history
to life in an entertaining and informative way for students. |
